This week Blackbark were in north Halifax at Brackenbed, also known as the old Shroggs Tip site. We coppiced two falls which will, in a few years, be the best hazel coppice in Halifax. And probably the only.
For the masochists out there, you’ll be glad to know that the plants gave us a good fight: Keith got half an inch of thorn under a thumbnail, everyone got spiky puncture wounds and Hywel’s arms are now lacerated by brambles.
Once again, thanks to all the people who came out to help wrestle with hawthorn trees, drag brash and brush up their chainsaw skills. If any of you want to join in the fun and get stuck in this winter, there’s still chance. All you need to do is get in touch.
