Charcoal for sale!

Local hardwood charcoal

Now that the torrential summer rains have abated (cross fingers) and the sun is shining constantly (ahem) you may well be rushing outside to have a BARBEQUE.

Are you? Well why not use our local hardwood charcoal? It is:

Easy to light (no need for lighting fluid)

Lovely to cook on (it reaches cooking temperature quickly, around 15 minutes, and burns evenly)

Clean burning (no smoke, leaves only wood ash)

Supporting local woodland management (that’s right, us!)

Our 10 litre bags of charcoal are available from a number of retailers from Sowerby Bridge all the way up to Cornholme via Mytholmroyd, Hebden Bridge and Todmorden. Look out for the brown bags! If you can’t find any near to where you live you can also buy charcoal directly from us. Please get in touch.

Charcoal kiln, Alder Carr Woods, April 2012

Blackbark have spent a number of weeks in the woods with our two charcoal kilns. The vast majority of charcoaled wood is sycamore, cut in half-acre falls for a 12-15 year coppice rotation. Soon we will have a whole page devoted to hows, whats and whys of charcoal burning, so check back soon to discover more. In the meantime, enjoy those burgers!
