Last year Blackbark worked with climate change action group Treesponsibility to design a tree planting site above Todmorden. The purpose was to establish around 6 acres of predominantly hazel, which will become a commercial coppice in 10-15 years time (depending on how fast it grows…). As far as we know it will be the largest hazel coppice in Calderdale. The exposed situation meant that a windbreak of hardy, fast-growing trees was absolutely necessary. site so that stock can eventually be kept out without fences.

Treesponsibility have spent the last couple of months planting thousands of trees and have almost reached the finish line!
