Hedge stakes and bean poles from local woods

We’ve started harvesting stakes and poles from two sites we’re managing in Todmorden, Calderdale. Claire is planning to run chair making workshops with children, Keith has got some hedge laying work lined up and we’re hoping that Yorkshire gardeners will want to order our stakes and poles for their allotments.

There is also some very exciting wych elm to coppice, from which we will take the inner bark. Excellent material for woven seats and baskets.

We’ll be turning the birch brash into besom brooms and the rest of it into fascines for erosion control projects. Get in touch with keith@blackbark.co.uk if you want to order any of these these products.

It’s also been a great opportunity to practice the new skill we learned from Simon Fowler’s coppicing with hand tools course.
